Birmingham and Solihull CCG
Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group has the fourth largest population of all clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in England and has 100 member practices.
We are clinically led, which means we are made up of doctors, nurses and other professionals, and are responsible for commissioning (buying) health services for our patients as well as improving health within our local communities and across the city of Birmingham.
We took on responsibility for planning and buying NHS services for local people on 1 April 2013, following the abolition of Primary Care Trusts (PCTs).
Our budget for 2016/17 is £1 billion and we commission services for a population of around 710,000, including:
- Planned hospital care
- Rehabilitative care
- Urgent and emergency care (including out-of-hours)
- Most community health services
- Mental health and learning disability services
